iQoo Neo 7
The new release of the "iQoo Neo 7" comes as a big surprise, since it has never been released before. With its improved overall design and powerful performance, the latest version of this ultra-compact smartphone continues to be one of the best Android handsets available today.
The device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset, which has received strong support from Google over the past two years since its launch, and an upgrade has taken place in all areas of its architecture. The CPU is now paired with up to 16 GB RAM, and the company makes sure that the memory capacity remains high, even if you consider using games as your primary application. In addition, the phone's internal storage has grown a lot thanks to the introduction of SD Memory Expansion card technology.
Finally, the phone is also equipped with Huawei's Kirin 9000 processor – the same chip that was previously responsible for several flagship mobile devices, such as Honor V10 series, P20 series, Realme GT2 Pro, Oppo Find X3+ and others. It can be noted that this model will not come pre-installed with EMUI software since there are still some limitations regarding compatibility with third-party operating systems.
Another interesting aspect of the handset under review is its camera, the main feature of which should definitely be considered while making comparisons between models. While these cameras were mainly found on the previous generation of the NeO 7, the most important feature of them all has been slightly updated over time – the lens. This model does not have optical image stabilization that allows users to take shots without losing quality due to shaky hand movements, but the user is still able to capture images with excellent clarity. When doing so, the front and rear cameras still have their regular resolutions, although they also get a larger sensor size for better photos.
The screen on the other hand gets a 120Hz refresh rate, which helps make video calls more comfortable, while maintaining a stable frame rate. Moreover, the text display is also increased in width compared to last year's model, which gives it a greater look. Even though the screen does feel less sharp and brighter than its predecessor, the maximum brightness levels are definitely not low due to the current resolution and the lower peak brightness levels. Nonetheless, there are no major drawbacks in terms of color reproduction or viewing angles, and the colors are nicely balanced. Furthermore, the material finish appears almost identical to those used for many flagship flagships. Finally, both sides of the phone have a glossy treatment, meaning that fingerprints remain visible under certain conditions. A fingerprint reader is onboard, allowing users to enter information, and this mode is really convenient when working, since entering passwords is much simpler compared to traditional methods.
Overall, the build quality seems fairly good for a budget-oriented manufacturer, and as usual, iQoo puts a premium on durability and safety. For example, users do not need to worry about breaking their smartphones in water or dropping them on hard surfaces. On the other hand, this handset would also benefit from a little bit of protection. Therefore, the antenna covers are located on the back and sides of the body instead of being built into the case, and this solution ensures additional protection from any damaging environmental factors. Both phones are covered in IP68 waterproof coating, meaning that the user is protected from all types of liquids, shocks and shocks in general. Lastly, the charging cable can be easily removed and reassembled, providing a better grip when carrying. All in all, there are few downsides to be expected, particularly due to the lack of advanced connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 6E and 5G. However, despite that, the overall experience is pretty positive, making this device a very exciting option among Android smartphones.
